Tivoli wouldn't be Tivoli without its uniquely beautiful, fairy-tale and infinitely diverse garden. Despite 175 years of continuous renewal and development, the Gardens have always retained their fairy tale atmosphere and magic. Tivoli's Gardens are now more beautiful and more diverse, lively and sustainable than ever before – encompassing renewal and innovation with respect for history and tradition. This book is a tribute to the Gardens in Tivoli.

In its 456 pages, we get to know Tivoli's gardens, from the time when Tivoli opened its gates in 1843 right up to today, at a time in which the development plan put together by Head Gardener Tom Knudsen and architect Jesper Andersen has more than come to fruition. Across 27 chapters, we learn about the history of the gardens, and the many special gardens and garden sections are presented in words and pictures for enjoyment and inspiration. Beds and plant populations are reviewed, and the many beautiful plant combinations are explained, adding a new dimension to Tivoli visits, while enabling the reader to renew their own gardens and plant pots in true Tivoli spirit.

The book focuses on the poetic and fairy-tale aspects of the Gardens – plant populations, water, trees and flowers – the aspects that make Tivoli stand head and shoulders above other amusement parks around the world.

Tivoli – a Fairy-Tale Garden of Flowers is a book rich in pictures, and offering plenty of inspiration and expertise. It follows the Gardens through the years, from the intoxicating bloom of tulips and rhododendrons, through summer's astonishing abundance of perennials and summer flowers, dahlias and vegetables, to Halloween in autumn and then the gorgeous illuminations hanging between the naked silhouettes of the trees during Christmas and winter.

Lists of plants in the various garden sections are included at the end of the book, enabling you to recreate the flower beds at home.
