Guard – Large
Guard – Large
In Denmark there is a proud tradition to decorate your home with wooden figures to create a great atmosphere. Each of the small figures from the Tivoli-collection Tale Figurines tell their own unique story from a world-famous fairy tale or from Danish culture.
The Royal Life Guards are known as the protectors of the Danish Royal Family and are easily recognized by their striking red uniforms and distinctive bearskin hats. The Royal Life Guards are an iconic symbol of Danish history, tradition, and royal ceremony.
Visitors to Tivoli Gardens will also encounter guards, but these belong to The Tivoli Youth Guard (Tivoli-Garden), which is not a military unit. Tivoli-Garden was founded by Tivoli’s creator, Georg Carstensen, the year after the Gardens opened and was intended as a gift to himself. Since then, Tivoli-Garden has become one of Tivoli’s most beloved traditions, entertaining guests from around the world.
Although the Royal Life Guards and Tivoli-Garden share the same distinctive red jacket, there is a clear difference between their uniforms. The Royal Life Guards wear blue trousers with white stripes, while Tivoli-Garden wears white trousers with blue stripes. This unique detail makes it easy to distinguish between the royal guards and the young musicians who proudly march through Tivoli Gardens.
