Kähler Tealight House - Tivoli The Pantomime Theater

The Pantomime Theatre in Tivoli is one of the Gardens’ most iconic landmarks and has been a centre for performing arts, culture, and enchantment since 1874. The theatre was designed by architects Ove Petersen and Vilhelm Dahlerup and is especially famous for its beautiful Chinese-inspired façade and the iconic peacock curtain that unfolds before each performance.

For generations, the Pantomime Theatre has been a popular gathering place for Tivoli’s guests. During the summer season, pantomimes and ballets are performed under the open sky, where the classic characters Harlequin, Columbine, and Cassander alongside Pjerrot continue to bring the historic stage to life.

For the fifth time, Tivoli and Kähler have joined forces to create an elegant Urbania lighthouse, with the Pantomime Theatre serving as the inspiration for this year’s design. Crafted using Kähler’s proud ceramic traditions and decorated with details inspired by the workshop’s classic horn painting techniques from Næstved, the piece beautifully combines Danish design, cultural heritage, and the magic of Tivoli.
